Update: Societas Internationalis Limnologiae (SIL)

General messages
Posted: 12 Oct, 2007
Expiration Date: 11 Oct, 2008

Dear Friends of Aquatic Sciences:

We now close the books on a very successful 30th Congress of the International Association of Theoretical and Applied Limnology, with close to 1400 participants representing some 53 countries.

For the first time ever at SIL, and in an effort to increase the communication initiatives associated with the triennial congress as well as to reach out to limnologists around the world who were not be able to attend the congress, SIL 2007 is providing the plenary sessions and invited lectures as well as assemblies by webcast. Via the Webcast link from our site (www.sil2007.org), you can view the Baldi and Kilham memorial lectures, each of the 5 plenaries, the 1st and 2nd general assemblies as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.

The important media coverage enjoyed by the congress brought a welcome level of national and local exposure regarding vital issues of water quality and usage. Print articles as well as television newscasts broadcast during the congress dates are also available at www.sil2007.org, under 'Media Coverage' on the home page.

We look forward with all our colleagues to the 31st Congress of the International Association of Theoretical and Applied Limnology, taking placing in 2010 in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa.
