RESOURCE SCIENCE ASSISTANT (TEMPORARY), MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION

Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) temporary position at the Resource Science Center, Columbia, Missouri. Successful candidate’s primary job duty will be to sort aquatic macroinvertebrate samples, identify macroinvertebrates, and record data for a variety of projects. Other duties may include, but are not restricted to: sampling trips in the field, and assistance with sample inventory and equipment and supply preparation, maintenance, and inventory.

HOURS AND PAY RATE: $9.32 per hour starting 1 June 2008 and going through at least 15 June 2009. Position may extend for an additional 12 mo. Applicants should be able to work 40 hours per week. Missouri Department of Conservation benefits are not available for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree or course work toward completion of a degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Sciences, Biological Sciences, or related major; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with taxonomic identification and sampling of freshwater invertebrate organisms is desirable.

SPECIAL ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sort preserved samples and identify aquatic invertebrates 40 hrs most weeks. Ability to accurately and legibly record data. Ability to use a personal computer. Ability to share lab space with others. Ability to follow instructions and protocol and communicate with supervisors.
