Undergraduate Research Assistantship (REU), Aquatic Ecology, University of Wisconsin, Trout Lake Station

Description: We are seeking a highly motivated undergraduate interested in aquatic ecology to fill a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) position at the University of Wisconsin’s Trout Lake Station. The successful applicant will design and implement a field experiment exploring spatial and temporal variation in benthic primary production in north temperate lakes using pulse amplitude modulated fluorometry.

The undergraduate will also assist with among-lake monitoring of benthic primary productivity and habitat mapping. Applicants with laboratory and field experience as well as experience with small motor watercraft are preferred, but those with little experience are still encouraged to apply. Applicants must be SCUBA certified or be willing to become certified before starting. The position includes a summer stipend, and free housing will be provided at UW-Trout Lake Research Station in Boulder Junction, WI. The student is responsible for writing a paper at the end of the field season and will be encouraged to present to project at a scientific meeting. The student will be hired through Wright State University, Dayton OH.
