Aquatics Specialist, Colorado Water Project

Trout Unlimited’s Colorado Water Project works to protect & restore streamflows for healthy coldwater fisheries. The Aquatics Specialist: 1) provides technical analysis of the stream flow, habitat and water quality effects of water development proposals; 2) works with agency staff & water providers to advocate fish-friendly water management; 3) analyzes agency actions regarding stream flows; 4) develops opportunities and recommendations for new instream flow water rights; 5) designs & manages aquatic habitat/stream flow restoration projects. Ideal candidate will have: 1) advanced degree in biology, ecology, hydrology or related field; 2) skills & experience in aquatic ecology/biology; 3) excellent communication & interpersonal skills; 4) comfort working in interdisciplinary teams & with diverse interests; 5) commitment to fisheries conservation. Knowledge of hydrologic modeling, water rights engineering, GIS mapping, instream flow quantification, biological sampling and data analysis tools desirable. Excellent benefits.
