Two Environmental Biologist/Specialist positions (Nos. 60035525 & 60035527, formerly Nos. 31797 and 31799) are available for benthic ecologists looking for work within the NC state monitoring program in the Biological Assessment Unit. Position requires minimum of 4 year degree, plus one year related work experience (Masters degree counts as one year) and is based in Raleigh. Taxonomic skills (including chironomids to species), love of field work, and writing experience are desired. Job basically entails study design, leading sampling trips, working up your samples (about 40 per year), analyzing the data and writing reports. NC is a large and interesting state with mountain, piedmont, coastal plain, sandhills, swamp, and slate belt streams. We strive to produce high quality data that is used by higher management to protect and improve water quality. Position requires extensive travel throughout the state.
SALARY RANGE: About $37,000 to $60,000 Position will be open until July 18, 2008.
