  • National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center - Snow Information (299)
    The National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center (NOHRSC) provides remotely-sensed and modeled hydrology products for the coterminous U.S. and Alaska. NOHRSC airborne, satellite, and modeled snow data and products are used by NWS, other government agencies, the private sector, and the public to support operational and research hydrology programs across the nation. The NOHRSC produces snow products and information that include estimates of: snow water equivalent, snow depth, snow pack temperatures, snow sublimation, snow evaporation, estimates of blowing snow, modeled and observed snow information, airborne snow data, satellite snow cover, historic snow data, and time-series for selected modeled snow products. Site includes Interactive Snow Information Map, National and Regional Snow Analyses and data from Airborne Gamma Snow Survey.
  • NOAA's Environmental Real-time Observation Network (NERON) (472)
    NOAA's Environmental Real-time Observation Network (NERON) is a new national program to install automated climate and weather observing stations every 400 square miles. Each station records air temperature and precipitation accumulation every five minutes and reports that information every 15 to 60 minutes. The information from these stations will not only describe the Nation's climate but will provide valuable information for water resource management and flood and drought forecasting, and will provide input for sophisticated computer weather models. One hundred stations have been installed in New England and eastern New York as the first phase of the network.
  • SMIG -- The USGS Surface-water quality and flow Modeling Interest Group (409)
    Mission The mission of the USGS Surface-water quality and flow Modeling Interest Group is to heighten the awareness of surface-water quality and flow modeling activities within the U.S. Geological Survey, enhance communication, and facilitate the sharing of information and expertise among modelers. Scope The scope of the USGS Surface-water quality and flow modeling Interest Group includes all surface-water modeling activities. Topics of interest include any issues relevant to the hydraulic modeling and/or water-quality modeling of surface waters (lakes, reservoirs, rivers, estuaries, and watersheds).

    Full issues (indexed by date or subject) of the agency's quarterly newsletter. Articles cover diverse topics from fluvial processes (Geomorphology, River Morphology, Historical Changes in Mountain Streams, etc.) to future technologies (sediment technology, data loggers, stream data collection, etc.).
  • U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (284)
    Established in 1902, the Bureau of Reclamation is best known for the dams, powerplants, and canals it constructed. Reclamation has constructed more than 600 dams and reservoirs in the 17 western states. They are the largest wholesaler of water in the country, bringing water to more than 31 million people, and providing irrigation water for 10 million acres of farmland. Two real-time product groups of interest are: Agrimet - providing weather, crop water and evapotranspiration data; and Hydromet - providing resevoir stage as volume and percent capacity and stream discaharges.

    The Wetland Biogeochemistry Laboratory (WBL) promotes teaching, research and outreach activities on biogeochemical processes regulating the fate and transport of nutrients, metals, and toxic organics in wetland and aquatic ecosystems.
