  • Australian Society for Limnology (699)
Focused on the study of inland waters.
  • Minnesota Water Resources Center (448)
The Water Resources Research Center at the University of Minnesota is part of the National Institutes of Water Resources, a network of 54 water centers operating within Land Grant Institutions nationwide. Minnesota's Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) is administered through the College of Natural Resources and is located on the St. Paul campus.
  • National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR) (366)
A network of 54 research institutes in every state which conduct basic and applied research to solve water problems unique to their area. Links to the 54 institutes.
  • North American Lakes Management Society (NALMS) (407)
A non-profit all-volunteer organization whose mission is to "forge partnerships among citizens, scientists and professionals to foster management and protection of lakes and reservoirs..."
  • Ohio Sea Grant and Lake Erie Program (316)
The Ohio Sea Grant College Program uses research, education, and outreach efforts to enhance use and improve management of this nation's ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes resources. Ohio Sea Grant College Program, a statewide program based at The Ohio State University, funds Education, Research, Extension, and Communication activities, in multiple disciplines, to enhance the use, development, and wise management of our Great Lakes and coastal resources. Two programs affiliated with Ohio Sea Grant are Franz Theodore Stone Laboratory and the Great Lakes Aquatic Ecosystem Research Consortium. Critical environmental and resource issues affecting the Great Lakes are addressed by faculty, staff, and students supported by the Ohio Sea Grant College Program.
  • Remote Sensing of Lake Water Quality (318)
The Upper Great Lake States of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan are fortunate to have a large number of lakes (over 30,000 lakes >10 acres). Protecting and monitoring lake water quality is a major concern for many local and state agencies which have monitoring programs that measure physical, chemical and biological properties of the region's water resources. However, because of expense and time requirements for ground-based monitoring, it is impractical to monitor more than a small fraction of this large resource by conventional field methods. The use of remote, satellite-based sensing is a potentially cost-effective way to gather the information needed for regional water quality assessments in lake-rich areas. NASA Regional Earth Sciences Applications Center. Parrallel article,"Testing the Waters" is available from the NASA Earth Observatory.
  • Soil and Water Conservation Society of Metro Halifax (295)
Applied limnology of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
  • The International Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR) (346)
The International Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR) is a scientific organization made up of researchers studying the Laurentian Great Lakes and other large lakes of the world, as well as those with an interest in such research. Specifically, they promote all aspects of large lakes research; and communicate research findings through publications and meetings.
  • University of Minnesota Limnological Research Center (346)
LRC persues a mission to stimulate interdisciplinary research of lakes to understand regional environmental dynamics. Links to Large Lakes Observatory and to the related programs, Paleorecords of Global Change, International Decade for the East African Lakes and the International Association of Limnogeology.
