NABS ENDOWMENT STUDENT TRAVEL AWARDS

Three of the named NABS endowment funds provide support for travel to the annual meeting. The Americas Fund provides one travel award to a scientist or student from Latin America. The Petersen Fund provides two travel awards for non-North American students. The Simpson Fund has been managed to provide one travel award to a student whose interests are in applied issues. These NABS Endowment Awards are based solely on the quality of the research as demonstrated in the abstract submitted for presentation at the annual meeting. Although these awards are designated as travel awards, they are considered by the Endowment Committee to represent explicit acknowledgment of the quality of the research the student has completed! The awards will be for $500 each. To be considered for an award, a copy of the abstract must be sent to Leonard C. Ferrington, Department of Entomology, University of Minnesota, Saint Paul, MN 55108-6125, postmarked by the deadline date for submission of abstracts for the annual meeting. A cover letter should also indicate the name of the fund for which the abstract has been submitted. All abstracts submitted for consideration for a travel award will be reviewed by a three-person committee appointed by the Chair of the Endowment Committee.
