About Athens

Located about 100 km east of Atlanta, GA, Athens houses the main campus of the University of Georgia. The downtown area contains almost 100 restaurants and bars, and the town is renowned for its contemporary music. Folks who visit Athens frequently remark about the festive nature of the town.

Climate

During late May, the average high temperature is in the mid-80s (29-30o C) and the average low is in the low 60s (17-18o C). Afternoon thunderstorms are common.

Conference Site

The Classic Center (www.classiccenter.com) is located immediately adjacent to the downtown Athens area, and near the main campus of the University of Georgia. The center contains a state-of-the-art theatre for large gatherings, and large session rooms located conveniently near each other. A third large display area will house the poster session, which will be open for much of the meeting to permit long exposure of poster presentations. The entire facility is accessible to disabled persons.
