Responsibilities:

The major responsibility of the Chironomidae taxonomist is the identification of chironomids to genus/species level. We work in a production environment where accuracy is critical and speed is imperative. The majority of our projects come from around North America, so the successful candidate will be required to learn and become familiar with a diverse range of chironomid taxa. During an initial intense training period, the Chironomidae Taxonomist will be working under the wing of a highly experienced Senior Chironomidae Taxonomist. After the training period, the Chironomidae Taxonomist will also be responsible for executing our rigorous quality control tasks.

Qualifications:

Expertise in identifying Chironomidae to species is highly desirable, and genus level skill is preferable. Special skills in any other group will be helpful. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, enjoy collaborating with people, work well in a small team environment, and meet deadlines. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor's degree in entomology or related biological field and demonstrated experience in identifying chironomids. Two years of full-time experience in a production taxonomy setting is also preferred.

Anticipated start date: To be determined
