The Stroud Water Research Center seeks a Microbial Ecologist for an endowed position at the Assistant or Associate level to study microorganisms in streams and rivers. Research areas of interest include (but not limited to) linking populations or communities with aquatic or riparian ecosystem function, population dynamics and evolutionary processes, ecology of disease agents, and the ecology of anthropogenically modified ecosystems. We seek an individual who can initiate new interdisciplinary projects and contribute to ongoing collaborative and long-term studies in microbiology and ecosystem dynamics. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. with expertise in aquatic or terrestrial microbiology or microbial ecology, a strong publication record, and the ability to develop and lead an innovative research program.
The Stroud Water Research Center (http://www.stroudcenter.org) is an independent field and laboratory-based research organization located in southeastern Pennsylvania. The Center investigates all aspects of stream and river ecosystems throughout the world, and maintains research facilities in the White Clay Creek Experimental Watershed, the nearby Stroud Preserve, and the Maritza Biological Station in Costa Rica. Senior scientific staff have adjunct appointments at the University of Pennsylvania and University of Delaware, and host/direct undergraduate and graduate students from many universities.
