Initially for one year, with expectation of continued funding for up to 3 years. Qualifications: Ph.D. in aquatic ecology, with good statistical skills. Experience in fieldwork in remote locations, and a sound background in aquatic macroinvertebrate ecology are both advantageous. The successful applicant would join an expanding research group, focusing on national-scale biological survey and biodiversity assessment within Canadian rivers. Current research focuses include: application of high-throughput genomics techniques in biomonitoring and the development of diagnostic tools for stressor separation and diagnosis, including ecohydrological alteration. Dr Donald Baird (www.unb.ca/cri/baird_home.htm) and his research group have ongoing research links with several major federal research programs, including International Polar Year, Parks Canada and the Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network (CABIN). The successful applicant will be located at the Canadian Rivers Institute at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, NB, Canada. Deadline for receipt of applications: December 1, 2008.
