Collections of adult Trichoptera were made monthly in a 3rd order mountain stream in southeastern Brazil (Minas Gerais state). The stream, Córrego Belchior, and tributaries are inside a state park, Parque Estadual do Itacolomi. The flight period of caddisflies was analyzed and results show seasonality of some species. The study site is a high gradient stream with dark waters tanned by humic acids. The streambed is composed of large boulders with a succession of pools and small cascades. A riffle section of about 50 meters was located just downstream from the collecting site. The accompanying riparian forest was in a very good condition. Collections were made with UV lights placed by the stream, from February 1998 to March 1999. The stream suffered torrential floods during the rainy season. September to March was the period with the most diversity of caddisflies attracted to light. A total of 68 species and 728 specimens were collected during this period from the locality. Twenty-two of the species are new to science. Comparison with data from other collections made in Minas Gerais state is also provided.
