Instructions

General

  • Only one presentation per person will be allowed. This applies to all presentations, be they posters or oral presentations, in special sessions or contributed sessions. An individual may be listed as co-author on more than one abstract, but the senior author must present the paper.
  • Presentations must be based on original work that has not been published prior to the meeting. Abstracts must contain sufficient information to convey the main theme, objectives, results, and conclusions of the work.
  • Abstracts (max 200 words) will be evaluated on relevance of the subject to benthology, originality, quality of writing, and adherence to required guidelines.
  • Before submitting an abstract, authors should be confident that they will attend the meeting. Withdrawal of papers creates problems. If cancellation is necessary, please contact a program chairperson immediately.
  • All abstracts for the contributed and poster sessions must be received by Friday, 7 January, 2000. Special Session abstracts should also be submitted electronically by 7 January; additionally a copy should be sent to the convenor of the particular special session, who will then forward all abstracts to the special session organizer (LeRoy Poff) (see information on Special Sessions below). Technical Workshop abstracts must be submitted directly to the special session organizer (LeRoy Poff) by 31 December, 1999.

Submitting an abstract

  • To submit an abstract, go to the abstract submission form and enter the type of presentation and the number of authors and distinct affiliations.
  • Enter the data for each author. Keep in mind that the presenting author is always the first author.
    • Check the corresponding check box for each affiliation the author is linked to.
    • Enter the author's last name in full and initials for the first and middle names. Any suffixes should go in the last name box.
  • Enter in the affiliations. Please bear in mind that these affiliations must be complete. Do not break affiliations up into departments or sub-affiliations.
  • Enter the title of the Abstract. See the area on Special Characters and Formatting.
  • Now you can type in the abstract itself. You may find it easier to cut and paste from your word processor. See the area on Special Characters and FormattingNo tables are allowed.
  • Click the "Preview" button to view your abstract with special characters resolved (as far a your browser support them). Proofread the abstract here. If you want to make changes to it, Click the "Edit" button. Do not use your browser's back button as this may erase all data on the form!
  • When you've proofread the abstract and are ready to submit it, click the "Confirm" button. Your abstract will then be committed to the system.
  • Contact the programme committee if you need to modify/delete an abstract that has been saved on the system.
