Conference site

The Keystone Conference Center is a beautiful facility located just across the highway from Keystone Lake and the Keystone Lodge. Assuming a similar turnout to the 1995 meeting, this facility should be able to hold the entire meeting in the one building, including concurrent sessions, poster sessions, business lunch, and the plenary session. If our membership and meeting attendance continues to grow, we may need to expand to Keystone Lodge - a short walk along the lake from the Conference Center.

Rocky Mountain climate

As many of you might remember from the 1995 NABS meeting, Keystone Resort is located at an elevation of 9,500 ft (not quite 3,000 m) above sea level - making it roughly 9,400 ft higher than the NABS meeting at Prince Edward Island! (Only 8,900 ft higher than Duluth!) At this altitude at this time of year, you need to be ready for any of four seasons, depending on the whims of nature. In 1995, we had snow, rain, and beautiful sunshine, with everything from parka weather to shirt-sleeve comfort at the barbeque. The old saying in Colorado is "dress in layers!" You can always put more jackets/sweatshirts on, or take them off! Normally, you would expect daytime temperatures in the 60-70 EF, cooling down to the 40's overnight.
